Join us for our second social justice film night!  We will be watching War/Dance.

Set in civil war-ravaged Northern Uganda, this Best Documentary nominee for the 2008 Oscars follows the lives of three youngsters who attend school in a refugee camp and find hope through a rich tradition of song and dance. Coming from a world in which children are abducted from their families and forced to fight in the rebel army, these kids give it their all when they travel to the capital city to take part in the prestigious Kampala Music Festival.

Join us to learn about hope in the midst of triumph, and what we can do to address this enormous tragedy.

If you would like to bring a snack to share, please respond with what you are bringing.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Dear God….

Dear God is a global project for people around the world to share their innermost hopes – and fears – through prayer. Praying to a higher power soothes and heals. It’s scientifically proven that people who pray are healthier, happier and more resilient.

Share your prayers with the rest of the world and help create hope one prayer at a time. You can send your personal letter to God and/or a picture that sums up your message visually. (Dear God will source a picture if you don’t have one).

Vote Out Poverty Pledge

I came across this movement that is inline with our values and priorities as a church. Because politics have failed to solve big problems in the past, it is tempting, even during a critical election year, to become apathetic and disengage from the political process. However, if we are to have any hope to change the failed politics of our nation, we must activate ourselves as citizens and re-center the national debate and agenda who around Jesus calls the “least of these.”

You’re invited to join the Vote Out Poverty Campaign and 1) Put Poverty on the top of your agenda by signing the Vote Out Poverty Pledge, 2) Put Poverty on the top of your church’s agenda 3) Put Poverty on the top of your candidate’s agenda by getting them to sign the Vote Out Poverty Candidate Pledge.

Join us for the movie “Kicking It.” This documentary follows six homeless soccer players battling poverty and addiction as they prepare to compete in the Fourth Annual Homeless World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. Hailing from places as far reaching as Afghanistan, Kenya, Ireland, Spain, Russia and North Carolina, 500 dispossessed athletes use the level playing field of competitive sports to regain their dignity and transform their lives.

Afterwards we will discuss the film and how we are called to react as bringers of Shalom to the city. There will be an opportunity to follow up show love to some homeless people on Saturday, so we can put it into practice!

Join us on Friday for this moving film. Feel free to call Julie (305-799-8876) if you have any problems. Look forward to seeing you there.

The Eschatology of Politics

This is a great short article about where our TRUE Hope lies during the election season. “Our calling is to participate in the missio Dei, the mission of God in this world. So, at election time we can use the season to re-align our mission with the mission of God. Therein lies our hope.”

“We are tempted to divide the USA into the good and the bad and to forget that the gospel has folks on both sides of political lines. Even more: we are tempted to think that the winners of the election are those who are blessed by God when the blessing of God is on God’s people.”

For those that see

Your beliefs will be the light by which you see, but they will not be what you see, and they will not be a substitute for seeing.

Grace in the City

I came across this image that reminds me of our talks on Grace. Some people who are native to big cities, such as New York, are often too jaded to see the bizarre beauty inherent in the urban cityscape. I invite you to intentionally find a vitality in the seemingly mundane aspects of street life.

Mosaic: Update

Greetings Mosaic peeps…sons and daughters of the uprising of Gods grace, truth, love and justice.

This week @ Mosaic we are continuing a series on Grace: So Amazing. Sustaining grace will be the focus.
If you are dealing with some “stuff” we are going to talk about how God will see us thru, and how we are to interact with Him during the process.

I would just like to encourage you all on what a generous and serving community you are. The habitat sign up we had 15 i think… thats about 20% of our attendance.

I would like to encourage and thank all of you who help set up, and put away on sundays, serve the children, faithfully give of your finances to support Gods work in this city.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Heb 6:9-10

Mosaic is the most generous church i have ever been a part of per capita. it’s also my favorite…hey i think we’re cool… you should be proud to be a part of her.

i encourage you to invite your friends, neighbors, fellow students, coworkers, because people matter. We all need jesus, a community to belong to, and a purpose to live for. Those three in tandem are not found any where else outside of the ekklesia.

We are absolutely giddy about the possibilities the future holds. Satan will undoubtedly try to discourage us, divide us, or cause us to stumble,or delay us some way, but as my 70 yr old mentor used to say. “what the devil wants to use to put you under, God will use to put you over” thats a good country paraphrase of a verse in romans.

We are searching for a hospitality team for sundays, and a prayer team for sundays. if you are gifted in these areas i.e. you come alive when you do it. We would like to have you.

3 requisites

1. Faithfulness (you show up and do it consistently)

2. Passion (there is energy behind what you do)

3. Servitude (a willingness to put others ahead of your self).

Children’s and worship teams are always open for volunteers. I encourage you to take ownership in Mosaic. to become an investor, and not just a consumer.

Hey i’m going long, if any of you have announcements that would be a benefit to the community send them here, or to mosaicmiami@gmail.com.

Going to close with a few suggestions for prayer. Include yourself and others in this

The Holy Spirit would stir up a hunger in the city for the word and the gospel
Gods people would know Him and His Spirit deeply.
We would be faithful to all God is calling us (mosaic) into, and towards
open doors for the kingdom to come, and His will to be done.
Gods provision for our every need would come in fullness.
God love you.
