Today, it is the not so well-known International Day of Non-Violence. It's a good time to stop and reflect on the tradition of Christian pacifism.
October 2 is originally the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, best known for helping lead India to independence, civil rights and freedom across the world. While not a believer, Gandhi was very much influenced by the teaching's and life of Christ.
“A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.”
— Mahatma Gandhi, Indian political leader (1869-1948)
