This is my a response to the question of What it means to be a christian.

Imagine two words fused together creating an
intriguing paradox. One word being complex and the other simple.
It's both a simple and yet a complex question to answer.
Books upon books can be and are written on the subject. I can simply say that it is as though at one time i was a lamp with a bulb and switch and all that a lamp is composed of, but one missing factor. The switch was not turned on. The switch was turned on when i excepted what God did for me and who He is . Of course in my particular situation i wasnt in a environment or ambience which one would call Holy. The ultimate flashpoint in my life happened in Greenwich Village ,New York City Near N.Y.U . I went from an individual who was around a crowd of people in my own world feeding and feeding my mind, thinking + hoping for some answers or meaning to life .It was as though i was constantly trying to find a pattern that would finally put all the peices of the puzzle together and eventually come up with an answer to the meaning of things . Im far from being proud of the fact that i would go about lookng for this pattern by constently feeding myself with anything i could get my hands on to smoke ,snort or eat. Synthetic and organic hullucinagenics were my daily diet for years .Please feel free to stop reading if this is boring to you or what ever cause, im just jotting down what went down before i came to the ultimate flashpoint of my life. In the apartment on Bleeker st, (Greenwich village), where i was living with a few people, is where the moment happened , I kind of mixed some crazy salad(sort of speak), crunching stuff up, snorting this ,smoking that, and eating this, all with the purpose to get the answer through stuffing myself with crazy mixtures.Well , as the night progressed and madness deepened , the air litterally felt thick during midnight hours and those who i live with were practicing things which i never did like ,and which i'd rather not mention here . Wait, let me resume this episode ,I didnt want part of whatever these people were into in the room i was in . I became more and more tense and then was approached by what i never really took seriously or even believed in .I heard the Devil speaking to me and all i can say is that i didn't want any part of it and i became fearful ,then more fearful, and it just got worse, then paranoia came in and it also got worse till i peaked in fear to the point where fear became meaningless as i called out for the first time saying in my spirit ,"God if you're out there ,please save me from this evil which is here presently" that's when i just accepted whatever was going to happen. Right there and then ,as i was laying on the floor next to a lamp when it happened ,I could remember that it was as though someone poured honey over me of somekind and i felt a warm feeling and a peace which i had never experienced before with all the years of chemicals and etc. which i tried . Well, that was my flashpoint or Ultimate flashpoint of my life having recieved the spirit of the living God coming in me and living in me and litterally saving my soul .
This was the beginning of a relationship with CHRIST. Who God is, is the Ultimate answer and the ultimate quest. Being a christian means having the spirit of GOD living in you and having a relationship with God . it means God can live in us and have His way through us
(The body of Christ). A person must have Christ in his life to say He or she is a chritian. It is written And the wittness is this ,that 'God has given us eternal life ,He who has the son has the life ,He who does not have the son of God ,does not have the life ,these things i have written to you who believe in the son of God in order that you may know that you have eternal life'.To be a christian means you're in the process of being sanctified. Chist ,who is perfect, lives in us , We are not perfect. We are justified of our sins through what Christ did on the cross and not by any of our works .Like i mentioned before, and many know, is that there are many ways to answer that question and it's good to see the different facets of this diamond. I would like to mention, before i end this, that being a christian does not mean having all the answers, but knowing the one who does. The scripture mentions that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ Jesus. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little bit of my answer.

Enjoyed reading again...just thinking ...If God doesn't share His Glory with anybody and we can't do anything without Him...why should we worry about positions, if He puts you in an elevated level and it's His work...you will be blessed by Him...i understand that the door He opens nobody closes and the door He closes nobody opens...

Hey Guys I was thinking if possible if people could contribute to a mitvah hebrew word for good deed donantion of what ever amount you can give even if its just a dollar a week above and beyond thee tithes. So I can buy gifts for people that are in pain or random people I feel that I m being lead to receive a gift. This way A possible conversation is started or they could read the inside letter I would leave in the package with scripture! I believe it could be impacting. Let me know what you think? I do this on my own already but a little financial help wouldn't hurt! All I would need is some money to be the Goods every week!

Dancing with the Broom: Your Worth in the Eyes of God vs. How Others See You
by Rich Deem
Introduction I work at a major California medical center as a researcher doing molecular biology research. A few years ago, Laura, our floor's custodian, came in and started sweeping the floor of our laboratory. At some point, some other scientists came into the room, bustling around setting up experiments. Laura, sensing she was somewhat in the way, apologized, saying, "Don't mind me. I'm just dancing with the broom." The implication was that we scientists were doing the important work, while she was doing the unimportant job of cleaning up. Behind this idea is the closely associated one that says that some people are more important than others because of what they contribute to society. Thus, doctors, sports stars, and movie stars are almost revered as gods (and some of them think they are!). However, God judges the importance of people using a far different scale.

The greatest will be a servantWhen Jesus called His disciples together, many of them were in competition with each other to determine who would be called the greatest among them.1 They expected Jesus to identify one of them as being the most spiritual or the best leader. Instead, Jesus told them that the greatest would be a humble2 servant to others.3 Jesus said that the world sees the one being served at a table to be greater than the one who serves him. However, Jesus indicated that He was the one who served others.4 During the Passover meal, it was customary for the servant to provide water for the guests to wash their hands. However, Jesus turned this idea on its head by taking water and a towel and washing the disciple's feet. Peter was so offended that he initially refused to have his feet washed.5 Jesus provided this example of how to be great by being a servant, Himself being called the Servant of God in the Old and New Testaments.6 Jesus said that the person who served by following Him would be honored by God the Father.7 Throughout the New Testament, followers of Jesus are described by the Greek word doulos,8 which means bond-servant or slave.9 So, according to the Bible, the path to greatness is through humble service.

Do not show partialitySociety tends to put an emphasis on titles and lofty-sounding positions. However, Jesus said that we should not seek to gather titles, such as "Rabbi" or "leader."10 The elevation of certain people on the basis of title or wealth is strictly discouraged in Christianity. The apostle James said that we should not favor someone because they are wealthy and dressed in fancy clothes, but calls such favoritism "evil."11 Numerous verses, throughout the Old and New Testaments make it clear that we should not treat people with favoritism or bias.12 Instead, we are to do everything in love13 and to do only good to all people.14

God is not partialThe reason why we are to act without partiality is because God Himself does not show partiality towards individuals.15 So, the Christian is to serve others on the basis of the strength God supplies,16 so that all glory goes to Him.17 God values all human beings equally,18 since we are all created in His image.19 Even though we are created in the image of God, we have all strayed from His morally-perfect image,20 and so need a Savior21 to be declared Holy and acceptable to God by faith in Jesus Christ,22 in order to gain entrance into heaven.23 However, once we enter that state, our station in heaven will be based upon our record of service to others in this life.24 So, it seems likely that the famous people on earth might be the broom pushers in heaven, while the lowly are given the highest honors.

Conclusion Whether you are the president of the United States or "just dancing with a broom," you have worth because you are created in the image of God. As Christians, we are to do our work as if we were serving the Lord Himself,16 since we are. Besides the work we do to support ourselves, we are to humbly serve others, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs as we lead them to the glorious kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Tony tony tony......I think someone should come up with a list of the supposed 2k verses of scripture about the poor.Does Jesus care about the poor? absolutely. What matters more those that are dead in trespassess and sins and are by nature enemies of God? or people that need a coat and a happy meal?If it were about the poor exclusively then Jesus would have come down here and multiplied fish and chips till this day. It's sad that we forget why Jesus actually came yo.We have beef with God and we are under his wrath because of our offenses.I think Jesus made that very clear with his unmatchable death on the cross.I dont think it was so that he could attach his name to a christian welfare movement and to say that its all about the poor and justice.
Social issues are important and we must be the first ones to stand against injustice I agree with that.Lets not forget that there is a bigger justice issue that must be dealt with and thats man's enmity with God.Christ satisfied God's justice at the cross with his death for the bride for the church. The issue here is eternity and those that are spiritually poor and dead in sins not those who again "need a coat and a happy meal"
